Air Conditioner Cleaning
Published on Thursday, 06 January 2011

Like, everything else, air conditioners can suffer from wear and tear, dust accumulation and other factors that affect devices over time. If your air conditioner is making funny sounds, or is just not cooling your air as well as it used to, then it's due for a good cleaning.
Parts of the air conditioner to clean:
Filter - this is the part of the air conditioner that cleans out dust and other particles form the air. It keeps the rest of the device relatively clean, while making sure that the air you breathe has been pre-cleaned for you. Some filters are completely reusable in the sense that you can simply wash reinstall them, while others have disposable parts, which you will have to replace.
Evaporator coil - this is the part in which the air is cooled before it is released into your room. Because of the volume of air that passes through it, the coil can also accumulate much dirt.
Vents - these are the last parts of the air conditioner that the air passes through before being released. They also tend to accumulate a lot of dust, which can be a bad thing for those with allergies.
Be sure to clean your air conditioner at least partially every couple of months, and fully every so often. It may seem a little inconvenient, especially if you have a large air conditioner, but the benefits are significant. By doing this, you'll ensure that your air conditioner functions at optimum efficiency and you'll save yourself a lot of money in the long run because you'll prolong the life of your device.
