Eco-friendly Cleaning Tips
Published on Thursday, 10 December 2009

The risk of global warming is alarming everyone towards protecting the environment from harmful gases and chemicals. Apart from the industrial sector, a great number of chemicals are released into the environment during the cleaning process. A light has been thrown on some of the go-green cleaning tips to protect the environment.

Use of green cleaning tips not only protects the environment but also promotes your health and even business with the green marketing based concept.

* First step is to minimise the use of hasardous cleaning agents. However, occasional cleaning with powerful cleaners is essential to maintain a clean environment free of pests. Bottles of cleaning agents leak powerful gases. Hence, they have to be kept locked in a cupboard and should not be reachable to kids.

* Take care when disposing harmful waste like paints or other inflammable materials. It is recommended to take the suggestion of your local recycling agent for the disposal of toxic wastes.

* To reduce the use of powerful cleaners, it is suggested to do regular clean-up. For unexpected stains, try homemade simple solutions before going for those toxic chemical cleaners. This will not only save the earth but also saves your pocket. Simple homemade cleaners can be made using baking soda, washing soda, vinegar, tea tree oil etc.

* Shift from paper towels to cloth napkins to save trees. Similarly, consider the use of recyclable materials as mops. Cloth is a best replacement for sponges or scrubs.

* Conserve the valuable nature resources for future generations.  Reduce the extent of water usage. For example, if you use hard water for simple cleaning jobs, you will not only need more water but also a detergent has to be used instead of soap. This way you are wasting water and adding harmful chemicals to the environment.

* Use indoor plants instead of air-fresheners to maintain clean and pleasant smelling air.

* Maintain cleanliness by doing regular clean-ups to avoid pest infestation rather than using harmful disinfectants like chlorine bleach regularly.
