Roots Hall is a multi-use sports stadium in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England, primarily used for football games and is the home of the Football League One club Southend United. With a capacity of 12,392 Roots Hall is the largest football stadium in Essex, and is the current venue for the final of the Essex Senior Cup. Southend United are due to move out of Roots Hall into a new 22,000 seat stadium by the start of the 2011-2012 season.
Two A-roads connect Southend with London and the rest of the country, the A127 (The Southend Arterial Road), via Basildon and Romford, and the A13, via Tilbury and London Docklands. Both are major routes. However, within the borough, the A13 is a single carriageway local route, whereas the A127 is almost entirely dual carriageway. Both lead to the M25 and eventually London.
Southend East is a railway station in Southend-on-Sea on the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway which was opened in 1884. It has two through platforms, Platform 1 for trains to London Fenchurch Street and Platform 2 for trains to Shoeburyness railway station, and one disused bay platform.
